Design techniques
MOODLE: | E-classroom |
The goal in the object of Design techniques is to acquire methods and tools for a systematic approach in product development and design. Students are expected to be able to connect the content of professional subjects already listened to and to acquire the necessary competences for self-management of projects. This is also adapted to exercises that require students to work independently on product development. There is always a strong emphasis on getting useful knowledge: project tasks are based on real cases, current legislation and regulation are taken into account.
At the outset, the emphasis is on understanding the whole life cycle of the product and, in particular, on the growth and maturity curve of the products. It is necessary to have the product in front of your eyes from design, manufacture, use, maintenance to recycling. The entire life cycle of the product must be taken into account at the design stage. Several methods have been developed for a comprehensive approach to design: simultaneous development, development for 6 sigma, quality requirements in the automotive industry. Through the content of the object, the aim is to develop the systemic way of thinking that is necessary in the construction of complex systems or products. An important part of the content is devoted to legislation that must be followed by any manufacturer who wants to sell the product on the market. An overview of the requirements and rules to be followed in the intellectual property is given. Particular attention shall be paid to product safety and harmonised standards which constitute minimum requirements for the European market.
Project work and product development is inextricably linked to the management of technical documentation. Important knowledge is given to technical information systems (PLM), which have particular importance in complex and spatially dispersed projects. Methods for data modelling of processes and products are systematically presented. The starting points for data security and long-term archiving of documents are presented.
